Synopsis

Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing as an average woman. But it's the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality.

When Elizabeth finds herself fired from her lab, she accepts a job as the host of a cooking show called Supper at Six. The show becomes an unlikely hit, with Elizabeth teaching her audience much more than recipes. She's teaching them to think for themselves.

Why We Recommend It

Lessons in Chemistry is a delightful, witty, and empowering novel that will make you laugh, cry, and cheer. Elizabeth Zott is a heroine for the ages - brilliant, determined, and unapologetically herself. This book is a celebration of women who refuse to fit into boxes society creates for them.
